En la seva 17a edició, TV3 ha rebut de nou un centenar d'inscripcions de films i programes per competir pels Premis TV3, en les seves dues categories: Premi TV3 Internacional i Premi TV3 Catalunya.
Durant la setmana dels Premis, els jurats han estat visionant excel·lents treballs documentals de tot el món, i tots ells amb un gran compromís amb els drets humans i amb la realitat que ens envolta.

han hagut d'escollir entre un magnífic ventall de documentals sobre temes tan diversos com la llibertat de premsa, l'explotació infantil, els genocidis, el racisme, les mafies de la prostitució i un llarg etcètera.
Finalment, van decidir otorgar el Premi TV3 Internacional 2008 a:
"Child Slaves"
de Rebecca Gudisch – ARD/WDR (Alemania)
The 10 year old boy is sitting on the floor of a dirty cellar, embroidering pearls onto the cloth, doing this 14 hours a day. "Come on, go on working!" the supervisor is snapping at him. The boy ducks down and continues to work. The chances that the 10 year old will see his parents again, are low, he is hundreds kilometres away from them and was sold for approximately 20 Euro– as a child slave. When parents are not selling their children voluntarily, children are even being kidnapped.
The little boy's name is Sumit and produces souvenirs in New Delhi, India that are then sold in Germany. Business with child slaves is working excellent.
Disguised as an interested buyer for different products and equipped with hidden cameras the two ARD reporters Rebecca Gudisch and Thilo Gummel enter this system of child slavery and retrieve children, parents, haulers, chief executives – together with those people that want to free the children.

On October 7, 2006, Vladimir Putin's 54th birthday, the journalist Anna Politkovskaja is shot in the lift of her Moscow home. Anna's death is a personal tragedy: she has just learnt that she is to become a grandmother. But the murder is also a political act, for Politkovskaja was the President's fiercest critic. Why was she shot in cold blood, this elegant woman who was always on the side of the weak and those who had no rights? Was it because of the stance she took against the war in Chechnya – a war that was virtually ignored in the world at large and yet became a turning point in Anna's life? – LETTER TO ANNA – a personal quest, but also a political film.

va decidir donar el Premi TV3 Catalunya a:
"Baba Georges"
de Jesús Medina
El capellà Jordi Mas i Castells, de la Garriga, té 78 anys, 48 dels quals els ha passat al Nord i Extrem Nord de Camerun, les regions més pobres del país. Ha fet centenars de pous, ha impulsat hospitals i ha obert escoles i sales polivalents per als habitants de la zona, el 95% de la qual és musulmana. El reportatge 'Baba' Georges fuig de la biografia convencional i pretén fixar el retrat moral d'un personatge que resumeix la seva vida en una frase: "Com puc predicar jo el benestar de la vida eterna, si hi ha un infern de sofirment aquí?" Gràcies a textos de Ryszard Kapuscinski, el documental vol convertir aquest testimoni qualificat i de primer mà de Jordi Mas en una aproximació al present i futur del continent africà.
