GENERAL DESCRIPTION
The Catalan Corporation of Audiovisual Media (CCMA) announces the 2009 edition of the "TV3 International Awards". This award was instituted as the Actual Awards for action and investigative journalism, to encourage reporters to continue their work in this genre and to give due recognition to their talent.
The TV3 International Award has become a platform for all productions that raise a voice against the violation of human rights. The goal is to defend the rights of individuals and democratic values such as tolerance and respect for minorities.

To coincide with the DOCS BARCELONA Festival, the 2009 edition of the TV3 International Award will be held in February 2010.
These guidelines regulate the entry terms of the "TV3 International Award".
ORGANIZERS AND AWARDS
The Catalan Corporation of Audiovisual Media (CCMA) created and organizes this award. The award secretary is assisted by Televisió de Catalunya, SA, a CCMA subsidiary.

ELIGIBILITY
All documentaries and reports that meet the requirements and terms set out herein are eligible.
The following individuals may submit their documentaries and reports:
- Individuals and corporate persons holding the exploitation rights and who are legally authorized to submit the documentary and/or report to festivals, awards and contests.
- The Director of the documentaries and/or reports empowered to present such work at festivals, and for awards and contests.
ENTRY DEADLINE
All entries, together with a completed entry form, must be submitted to the address that appears in Clause 2 by December 31, 2009.
PRODUCTION DATES
All reports and documentaries must have been produced between December 31, 2008 and December 31, 2009.
RUNNING TIME
15 - 90 minutes
JURY
The jury is made up of prominent individuals in the audiovisual industry appointed by CCMA. They meet in Barcelona to decide on the winners.
The guidelines for screening, scoring, selecting and voting are established by CCMA. All Jury decisions are decided by simple majority.
The Jury deliberations are secret and their decisions are binding. No appeals will be entertained.
The Jury reserves the right to declare the awards void if they decide the entries submitted do not meet the requisite standard.
AWARDS CEREMONY
Entrants will be notified directly of the date and place of the awards ceremony. All participants are invited to attend the ceremony.
LANGUAGE
All entries must be in English. Entries in languages other than English must be either dubbed or subtitled in English.
FORMAT
Entries must be submitted in DVD format.
CASH PRIZE
A single €10,000 cash prize will be awarded. The prize beneficiary will be the Director of the winning report or documentary, regardless of the individual or corporate body that may have submitted the entry.
Where applicable, tax deductions will be withheld by the CCMA in accordance with the Spanish legislation in force or the relevant International Double Taxation Treaty, as the case may be.
ENTRY FORM
OTHER ENTRY TERMS
- Works produced or co-produced by CCMA and its subsidiary companies, and works in which said companies have participated either directly or indirectly are expressly excluded from this contest. .
- Productions sponsored by commercial companies and used for advertising purposes will not be accepted.
- Entries must be submitted in DVD format, together with the script, the entry form, two photographs from the work and the author(s)’ CV.
- There is no entry fee for the TV3 International Awards. All shipping and handling fees for materials submitted shall be paid by the entrants.
- The materials submitted shall not be returned.
- There will be only one winner.
- Neither CCMA nor its subsidiaries will acquire the exploitation or intellectual property rights for any of the entries. However, both CCMA and Televisió de Catalunya, SA reserve the right to project the entries privately and for purely informative purposes to those groups interested in viewing them during the festival.
- To give media coverage to the “TV3 International Award”, the audiovisual media of CCMA’s subsidiary companies will be allowed to broadcast brief excerpts from the entries of their choice. The use of these excerpts will be limited to a maximum of one minute from each documentary or report.
- CCMA and its subsidiary companies are authorized to use brief excerpts and photographs from the entries in order to promote present, past and future editions of the awards.
- The winning documentary or report can be projected as part of the DOCS BARCELONA Festival. To this effect, CCMA is authorized to subtitle the work in Catalan.
- This competition is not open to employees of CCMA and its subsidiary companies.
- Participation in the TV3 International Awards implies full acceptance of these terms. The contest organizer reserves the right to use its judgment to interpret said terms should any dispute arise.
- Any doubts, disagreements, claims or disputes that may arise either directly or indirectly with regard to the interpretation and execution of these terms shall be resolved by the Courts and Tribunals of the City of Barcelona, the entrants expressly renouncing all other jurisdictions.
PERSONAL DATA PROTECTION
The Catalan Corporation of Audiovisual Media informs all participants that in compliance with the provisions of Law 15/1999 of December 13, 1999 concerning the protection of personal data, the information sent in by each participant will be included in a personalized file for each participant in order to manage the organization of the awards covered by these terms.
Guided by the principles and existing legislation regarding data protection, CCMA guarantees the participants that technical and organizational measures have been taken to protect the security and integrity of these files and under no circumstances shall the data be given or communicated to other companies without prior consent.

All participants are advised that their e-mail addresses will be used to keep them informed of other related events organized by CCMA. In compliance with Law 34/2002 of July 11 regarding the information society and electronic commerce, should the participant wish to stop receiving information, they can simply advise CCMA of their wish through the mechanism provided by CCMA in each communication.
